Innokin EZ Watt Review – Watt This Way
Review: Innokin EZ Watt
Manufacturing Quality
As far as intro-level box mods go, this one is actually pretty interesting. The majority of units that I would classify in this category all lack the same main feature: control over the power. The Innokin EZ Watt gives you three settings to choose between.
This is done with a chip that reads the resistance of the coil used and automatically adjusts the voltage to achieve a predefined wattage setting. Ill go over this more in the power flexibility section, but the max wattage that this can deliver is 35W.
The battery in this has a 1500mAh capacity. This isnt very big, but its not bad for a unit that is this small. Some of the cheaper intro units have less than 1000mAh, while Ive seen others start to come in the 2000-3000mAh range. That puts this somewhere in the middle. Users who are interested in 510 thread cartridges for oil often prefer the CCELL Silo.
Unfortunately, this only has 1A charging. With an internal battery, you really want to see 2A charging because it drastically cuts the amount of time it takes to charge.
The tank is pretty average. Its designed for mouth-to-lung (MTL) vaping, but its a little open in my opinion. To really satisfy people who like MTL, the draw should be more restricted. There is no airflow adjustment on the tank to help with this.
flavour Quality
The vapour quality of this kit is good, but it also leaves a little to be desired in my opinion. The flavour is good, and the vapour goes down smooth. Its also got a good density. You get two different coils with the kit, one rated at 1.5ohms and another at 0.8ohms. The 0.8ohm option comes preinstalled and delivers bigger clouds.
Its the draw restriction that Im not a big fan of. Like I just mentioned in the last section, the airflow is a little open for MTL vaping. I would still classify it as MTL because it is definitely too restricted for a satisfying direct lung (DL) draw, but I dont think people switching over from smoking are going to like it. There should have been an option to restrict the airflow more.
Power Flexibility
For a starter kit like this, the power flexibility is actually pretty good simply because it can be adjusted at all. These are the three main settings to choose between:
- Green = 13-14W
- Blue = 15-18W
- White = 30-35W To choose your temperature, you simply hold both buttons down and let the lights cycle until it is on the setting you want. Once you let go, you can press the bottom button only to cycle the light from normal to bright (same color though). The brighter version will keep it at the top of the indicated range while the normal version will stay at the bottom. If you are someone who also uses 510 oil cartridges and other vapers have reported Tronian Tautron is a good place to start.
For the most part, this is very easy to use. Its your typical beginners vape, plus the ability to adjust the power. While most vapes use the 5 click turn on, Innokin has always gone with 3 clicks.
The fire button is also backlit, and the light color indicates the charge level of the battery. Green means you have a good charge, yellow means youve dropped to half, and red means you need to charge it again ASAP.
The only thing that is a little confusing at first is the power adjustment. Choosing your main level is very straightforward, its the second option that I dont think most people realize they can do. So maybe it isnt confusing as much as it is misunderstood.
Portability
The portability of the is good, though I wouldnt call it great. There are a lot of options out there that are smaller. This one sits at about 4.5 tall with the tank, which adds a considerable amount to the base.
Dont get me wrong, this is still small. But Ive used others that are shorter while still having a bigger battery life. Im a big fan of all-in-one style vapes with side-by-side designed for portability.
Overall Experience
The Innokin EZ Watt is a good mod for beginners.
The fact that you can very easily change the wattage is nice. Its done in a way that wont overwhelm people, even if they have never used a vape before. Its a nice blend of having a little versatility without seeming complicated or too technical for new users.
If you want something extremely simple, check out the Kandypens Rubi and if you are looking for a mod style kit to start with we recommend the Vapouresso Revenger.
