The Ruby twist pro is a ball vape built around its twist functionality, which adds a new metal piece that allows for the airflow to come out of the heater in a vortex rather than a straight line. This is where the main name comes from. The swirling of the air keeps your herb moving as you inhale, so the bowl heats a bit more evenly.

The Pro version also includes everything in the kit to remove the twist function and turn it into a more standard ball vape, called performance mode. This means you can remove the metal vortex piece and replace it with a screen, creating room for more ruby terp pearls for a higher heat mass and denser vapor.

The bowl is also slightly different, as it's now a micro matrix bowl that gives you the choice between a small load or a decently larger one depending on which screens you place into it. It's made out of titanium, so heat soaking is relatively quick if you want it.

The pearls are also spherical and made of ruby, so the airflow is stronger than the gem-cut ruby alternative that the original Ruby Twist offered.

How To Use The Crossing Ruby Twist Pro

• Plug in the PID controller and connect the wand to it as well.
• Press and hold the center button for 5 seconds to turn the PID on.
• Use the plus and minus buttons to set your temperature.
• After the PID reaches your set temperature, wait a few minutes before your first hit to let the rubies fully saturate with heat.
• Fit the Micro Matrix Bowl with the glass joint that matches your water pipe and insert it into the pipe.
• Use the included scoop tool to fill the bowl with one scoop of medium-ground herb.
• Lift the heater by the wooden handle and place it on top of the bowl.
• Inhale slowly and steadily through the water pipe.
• Lift the housing off and return it to the stand between hits.

Pro Tips:

• Heat soak: For a heavier hit, hold the heater on the bowl for about 15 -25 seconds before inhaling. The bowl heats up and adds conduction to the hot air.
• Larger loads: Push the mesh basket screen further down in the bowl, or remove it entirely to fit more than one scoop. Leave a little space above the herb, and stir after two or three draws, since airflow packs the bottom layer down against the screen and it cooks more slowly than the top.
• Performance mode: For a traditional ball vape setup, swap the spinner widget for the 1.5mm CNC mesh screen and add the extra 100 rubies to the housing.

Vapor Quality

When it comes to the vapor quality, the Ruby Twist Pro offers a ton of variation to fit most people's use cases. The standard operation, with the twist or vortex airflow, is much better suited for flavorful sessions. This is because it uses mainly a convection based heating that leans somewhat into hybrid (more conduction) based on how much you let the heater sit on the bowl (what we call heat soaking). Now, that is not to be confused with the heat soaking you do with the heater itself, which is necessary for the heat mass in the rubies to be hot enough to extract your vapor in one hit.

You can also shape the vapor experience by switching out the vortex metal piece for a screen, which opens up a bit more space in the heater for around 100 more ruby terp pearls. This means that the heat mass gets increased a bit more, which allows for heaver, denser vapor pulls that are less flavorful but much thicker.

You can also leave the heater on the bowl longer, which increases heat and extraction for a denser pull.

Last but not least, the PID controller also shapes your vapor sessions. It gives you full control over how much temperature you want the heater to soak in, lower temps provide more flavorful vapor, while higher temps will extract more and produce thicker vapor with less flavor. That said, it's more important to control how long you heat-soak your herbs than the temperature itself.

Manufacturing Quality

When it comes to materials, the Ruby Twist Pro is mostly titanium, ruby, stainless steel, and glass. None of these add their own taste, which is a big part of why the flavor stays so clean.

Inside the titanium heater fit 155 ruby pearls (with the vortex attachment), held in place by stainless steel screens. Ruby is a very hard material, so the pearls hold up well to being heated and cooled every session.

The twist core is a small metal piece at the bottom of the heater. It’s removable, which is what makes performance mode possible. When you take it out, one of the included stainless steel screens goes in its place.

The spiral heating coil wraps around the outside of the chamber and heats it directly. Around the coil is a stainless steel heat guard, which is thicker on the Pro than on the original. The Pro also replaces the original’s silicone handle with a wooden one, giving you a solid, safe place to hold the heater.

The Micro Matrix Bowl is also titanium, so it heats up fairly quickly when you want a short heat soak. The glass joints are removable borosilicate glass in 14mm and 18mm, so you can switch to the one that fits your water pipe. Heat-resistant O-rings seal the joints, and the stainless steel mesh screen moves up or down to adjust the bowl's capacity.

Temperature Flexibility

The Micro PID controller adjusts in single-degree steps and can display Celsius or Fahrenheit. The recommended temperature range is 260°C to 330°C (500°F to 626°F), with 280°C (536°F) as a suggested starting point.

The PID reads the temperature at the coil, not the temperature your herb reaches. Some heat is lost between the rubies and the bowl, so your herb reaches a lower temperature than the display shows.

Temperature bands give you a rough guide, because heat soaking is also just as important to how the sessions will actually end up. Here's a small guide to follow, considering the heat soaking time is the same in every example:

• 260°C–285°C (500°F–545°F): Lighter vapor with the most flavor.
• 290°C–320°C (554°F–608°F): A balance of flavor and density for everyday sessions.
• 325°C–330°C (617°F–626°F): Maximum density, useful for finishing a larger bowl in one hit.

Timing works as a second temperature control. An immediate draw keeps the hit in convection territory, while a 15–25 second heat-soak on the bowl pushes it into a hybrid convection-conduction territory for more intensity at the same PID setting.

How to Clean the Crossing Ruby Twist Pro

The titanium housing and rubies run hot enough that very little residue builds up inside them. Most of what you’re cleaning is where the herb actually sits, meaning the bowl, screens, and glass joints. Keeping the screen clean maintains strong airflow and clean vapor. The basic routine is quick:

• Power off the PID and let the housing, coil, and bowl cool completely.
• Remove the Micro Matrix Bowl from your water pipe and knock out the spent herb.
• Brush the mesh basket screen with the wooden brush to clear any remaining particles.
• Wipe the glass joint clean with a dry cloth or an alcohol-soaked wipe.
• Return the housing to the coil stand and store the bowl until the next session.

Pro Tips for Cleaning:

• For a deeper clean, remove the glass joints from the bowl and soak the titanium bowl and glass joints in isopropyl alcohol. You can also soak the mesh screens in alcohol. Rinse them with hot water afterward and let every part dry completely before reassembling.
• Never submerge or wet the Micro PID, the heating coil, or its cable. Check the Viton o-rings during a deep clean and replace any that look cracked or swollen. If you spot a cracked ruby, replace it from the spare pack.

Compatibility with Accessories

The Ruby Twist Pro comes with everything you need to get started except a water pipe. A few accessories fill that gap, and the rest let you change your bowl setup or keep spare parts on hand.

If you want to change how much you load, the Titanium Hybrid Matrix Injector Chamber comes in two sizes. The Standard Hybrid Matrix Injector measures about 21.7mm and fits the standard Matrix bowl, built for bigger loads and heavier hits. The Microdose Hybrid Matrix Injector sits at around 16 mm, and it's the one that actually comes with the Ruby Twist Pro.

For even smaller sessions, the Adjustable Diffuser Pass-Through Chamber (Microdose) takes a different approach. The heater drops right over the top of it, so your herb sits closer to the heat. It’s great for small, one-hit loads, and its screen pushes down when you want a bit more room.

The Matrix bowls also have a few small parts worth keeping spares of. The Matrix Injector Chamber Glass Replacement Post (14mm Male) and Matrix Injector Chamber Glass Replacement Post (19mm Male) let you replace a glass joint on its own or add the size you need. The Replacement O-Rings for the Titanium Hybrid Matrix Injector Chamber keep those glass joints sealed.

Screens wear out over time, and each bowl takes its own. For the Microdose bowl that comes in the kit, use the Microdose Replacement Screen 4-Pack (Titanium Microdose). The Microdose Replacement Screen 4-Pack (Glass Microdose) is for the Adjustable Diffuser Pass-Through Chamber instead, and the two aren’t interchangeable. If you pick up the larger Standard bowl, it uses the Replacement Screens (19mm). You can also add the Reducer Screens (Bucket Style), which raise the screen so you can load less in the bigger bowl. The reducer screens only fit the Standard bowl.

Warranty

Crossing Technology covers the Ruby Twist Pro's electrical components, the Micro PID controller, and the heating coil, with a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects.
