Editors Note:  Utillian has recently launched the Utillian 723, the upgraded version of the Utillian 722. You can read its individual review here: Utillian 723 Dry Herb Vaporizer Review.

The Utillian 722 vaporizer is the latest addition to Utillian’s growing line of vapourizers. The 722 vapourizer looks to build on the success of the popular Utillian 721 vapourizer, sporting a new sleek look, refined airflow, convection vapour, and a higher max temperature which will provide bigger clouds and better full spectrum vapourization for your herbs.

Review: Utillian 722 Vapourizer

How it Works – Does the 722 work the same as the 721?

Users of the Utillian 721 will be somewhat familiar with how the 722 vapourizer operates, it still sports a single-button design for ease of use. 5 quick clicks on the power button will turn the 722 vapourizers on if you have used the device before it will remember your last set temperature and begin to heat up. The 722 takes roughly 30 seconds to reach a temperature which is better than the newly announced Crafty Plus which takes 60 seconds.

Two quick clicks on the power button will toggle between the 4 temperature settings. Everything seems relatively similar to the 721 vapourizers, however, the difference lies in the boost mode.

With the 722 you press and hold the power button and this will put the vapourizer into boost mode. The boost mode can be activated at any temperature and when activated the Utillian 722 will rapidly heat to its max temperature 225°C. The boost mode is a great way to get the most out of your dry herb. Vapourizers generally yield more active ingredients than regular smoking, effectively saving you money. But the U722 is better than some of the top dry herb vapourizers at maximizing your dry herb. If you’d like to see the numbers for yourself you can read our article here.

Now we must mention that the U722 is still a 2nd generation vapourizer, meaning that if convenience and portability are what you are after, something like the 3rd generation vapourizer, Zeus Arc GTS which comes with prefilled dry herb pods allowing the device to perform better.

If you’d like to learn more about the differences between the different generations of vapourizers, check out our article on what is a 3rd generation vaporizer?.

Temperature Flexibility - Boost Mode brings Higher Max Temperature

The Utillian 722 features 4 base pre-set temperatures; 180°C, 190°C, 200°C, 210°C, which will give you a good range to work within to vapourizer your herbs. The boost mode on the 722 vapourizer will push the unit to its maximum temperature of 225°C.

The boost mode is an excellent way to achieve full spectrum vapourization and finish off your session, getting the most of your plant.

Users that prefer precise temperature control along with the boost mode for on-demand heat usually prefer devices like the Utillian 421 although this is not an issue when taking into consideration that the U722 has 4 presets and a  boost mode.

The Utillian 722 continues the tradition of great-tasting convection vapour that users have come to expect from the Utillian 720 line. Airflow on the 722 vapourizer has been slightly refined offering smooth draws.

On the lower two temperatures, the flavour is better preserved with a decent amount of vapour production. The higher two temperatures will result in increased vapour production with a quicker fall-off on flavour.

If you want to stretch out your session, start at a lower temperature. As we mentioned, the boost mode will maximize your session and provide the largest amounts of vapour.

Overall the 722 really shines when looking at its vapour not only due to the fact that it can produce big clouds, but also the fact that it can produce extremely flavourful vapour as well.

Users looking for a stronger cloud of vapours usually tend to prefer the Mighty which is great with both the herbs.

Manufacturing Quality – A New Look

The Utillian 721 was a well-built device, but with the 722 vapourizer they have worked hard to make the device feel even better.

The new design of the Utillian 722 is sleek and stylish opting for a more squared look rather than the rounded edges of the 721.

The 722 features an updated rubberized finish that has a very nice satin feel to it. We found the rubberized finish especially helped with gripping and handling the unit.  The 722 is now offered in two colors, black, and gunmetal. The gunmetal features a sprayed aluminum finish that is a bit smoother but still feels high quality.

The mouthpiece on the Utillian 722 is larger and sturdier than the one included with the Utillian 721. This helps further optimize airflow for some serious cloud production. Users looking for devices offering a premium look usually tend to prefer the Zeus Arc that has a gold plated chamber and heat sink.

Battery Life – How long does the Utillian 722 last?

The Utillian 722 vapourizer is powered by a 2300mah non-removable battery which will provide you with roughly 60 minutes of battery life.

This is a good amount of time of vaping during the day and lighter users won’t have to charge their 722 vapourizers for a day or two.

The Utillian 722 charges via micro-USB which makes topping up the device easy and hassle-free. I would have liked to see a USB-C charging port on the device but its not essential.

Portability Of Utillian 722 VaporizerPortability – Can you take the 722 vapourizer with you?

The Utillian 722 is roughly the same size as the Utillian 721.

It is super easy to slip into a pocket or pop in your bag to take with you for the day. For those looking to protect their Utillian 722, a zeus armor hard case case is always a needed accessory, especially if you are constantly traveling with your vapourizer.

There are other brands that are focusing on portability like the Zeus Arc line mentioned in this post, if portability is what your looking for, I recommend checking out our best portable vaporizers ranking.

Ease of Use – Is the 722 Vapourizer good for beginners?

Unlike the Flowermate V5 Nano, with a one-button design, the Utillian 722 is a very easy and very straightforward vapourizer to use. I can safely recommend this vapourizer to first time users along with seasoned vets.

Getting good vapour production from the Utillian 722 is extremely easy and is one of the reasons the Utillian 721 was so successful. If you hand the 722 vapourizer to a friend who has never vaped before there is no coaching necessary, just draw and enjoy.

The unit is extremely easy to clean and using Zeus Purifying Cleaning Kit is highly recommended to get things done quickly.

Discreetness – Is the U722 Still Stealthy?

With the general public getting more and more used to seeing people walking around with chunky e-cig mods, the shape and design of the Utillian 722 should not draw too much attention.

If just left on a desk with the mouthpiece folded in, the 722 vapourizer could easily be mistaken for as a portable hard-drive or portable battery.

And with its size, it’s fairly simple to tuck the 722 vapourizer away if you ever need to hide it. Users looking for a more discreet unit usually prefer devices like the LITL1.

Utillian 722 Vaporizer Overall ExperienceOverall Experience – Still one of the best vapourizers for the money

The Utillian 722 is an excellent update over the Utillian 721. The bump in manufacturing quality and overall looks can’t be ignored, the 722 vapourizer is a rock-solid device.

Vapour production remains to be one of the strongest points of the Utillian line, with the 722’s convection vapour leading the way. Not only does the Utillian 722 do a great job at full spectrum extraction of your dry flower. The U722 is amongst the most popular dry herb vaporizers around since it brings amazing vapour quality and overall performance to the table.

The new boost mode is the perfect way to end a session and milk every single last terpene from your herbs.  This bumped up max temperature is a welcome addition and perfect if you like to chase clouds.

Overall, we are very happy with what the Utillian 722 has to offer and can easily recommend it as an upgrade over the Utillian 721 or as an alternative to more expensive convection units like the Crafty or Mighty.
