Patent reveals next Davinci Vaporizer will be an Oil Vape Pen
Every now and then us here at Tvape take some time to scour patent applications in order to bring you the latest news on upcoming vapourizer devices hitting the market. So always be sure to check back on our blog for more breaking news.
Today we unearthed something special, it appears Davinci has filed for a patent for an oil pen device, Patent USID D0864474. We know that vaporizers help save money so any innovation in the marketplace gets us excited.
DaVinci is one of the best dry herb vaporizer manufacturers that have really been one of the big innovators in the scene. At the time of the release, the Davinci IQC really blew our socks off in terms of the innovation and features packed inside.
Still one of our favourite and one of the best portable dry herb vapes around, DaVinci has given the IQ a nice refresh and brought us the DaVinci IQ2, yet again bringing innovation and creativity to the market in ways we didnt even think possible.
We hope this innovation extends to their patent pending oil pen. Find out what else we think about a possible upcoming DaVinci oil pen here! Scroll through to see patent photos.
Why an Oil Vape?
Naturally, were excited with the prospect of a new DaVinci device coming out. While wed prefer some cool new dry herb vapourizers, were welcoming of innovation on other fronts. It seems to be an oil-cartridge based device, one made to compete with like the likes of the Pax Era and Stiiizy oil pen.
As cannabis is legalized in Canada with concentrates becoming more common around North America as a whole, its only natural for DaVinci to branch out into other territories. Unless theyve really got some insane tech in store for us, this appears to be a concentrates vape, and more likely an oil vape rather than wax.
Size is an indicator
Weve managed to scour the internet and find some information regarding size. The biggest indicator, this slim little device appears to be along the lines of the Pax Era and Kandypens Rubi in form factor too.
Most oil vapes are similarly small, thats just the nature of them. Its entirely possible that DaVinci makes this into a wax vapourizer too, but we think its most likely an oil vape.
You can see from the limited patent photos we have that the design is borrowing aesthetics from the Davinci IQ and DaVinci Miqro. The shape and the mouthpiece design scream Davinci.
Innovation
As pioneers in the market in terms of innovation and shiny new tech, we hope they bring some life into this market. With the DaVinci IQ2 they managed to implement dosage control, and we think its entirely possible they can do that too with oil vapes.
In fact, this would be huge for medical cannabis users and functional users who want to keep their dosage in check. Dosage control on oil vapes is hard and its very easy to accidentally take too much.
With non-refillable pods, we can also maybe see a futuristic system where the device detects the pod and potency automatically, foregoing the need to adjust and enter all those numbers and ratios.
This would be super convenient and quick. Weve only really seen the Dosist vape pen think about dosage control, so we gladly welcome the innovation the DaVinci team may have.
What we’re hoping to see
Dosage control would be awesome and considering this is a pod-based device, it would make sense that following in line with the Pax Era that the cartridges will be pre-filled and disposable.
With the 4 what seems to be LED holes on the bottom, its possible well also see some form of temperature/power control which is also very handy. Were predicting there to be a smartphone app that allows you to set the values, just like on the Pax Era. But with Apple Banning Vaping Apps, we aren’t going to hold our breath.
It would be great to also see on-device calibration and adjustment, though were not sure how possible that is given the predicted size of the unit.
One thing to note, is that it looks like the device will be charged via micro-USB. We were hoping USB-C may come into practice, but it looks like as the patent currently stands they are sticking with the same USB size as the IQ/MIQRO vapourizers.
With quality comes the price, and if we have to pay a little more for something that really innovates and provides a serious edge over the half-generic options out now, then were all for it!
Final Thoughts
Were excited to see what new DaVinci vape is going to come out, and while its not a desktop dry herb vape or convection vapourizer like Utillian 722 which we wouldve liked to see, we welcome a high-quality oil vape.
With other manufacturers like ZeusArsenal working on their Zeus ArcPods, and now Davinci with their oil pen, we are happy to see innovation alive and well in the vapourizer space.
We will be sure to follow this product development as more news becomes available.
